Contador Day 2016

"The Gavia Pass is the Great War: it’s the cycling equivalent of trench warfare with a battle against tired, heavy legs to get over the top. The hostile mountain fights back but then relents to let you climb."

"The Mortirolo Pass is the battle of battles: the narrow road and ruthless hairpin turns take you first through woodlands and then over moorland. Extreme. Cruel. Solitary. Like a test of survival for cyclists."

A passion for cycling, promoting the area, experiencing sport.

These are the values on which our incredible sporting event is based, and Valtellina and Valcamonica support and promote these values just as enthusiastically as us. Once again this year thousands of cycling fans will be pedalling their hearts out as they climb the Gavia and Mortirolo Passes. You are all invited to join us for two days of awesome cycling with Alberto Contador. Feel free to choose where you wish to start (Ponte di Legno, Bormio or Mazzo di Valtellina) and which route best suits your preferred itinerary and level of fitness.

FREE REGISTRATION (MANDATORY)

Registration is free of charge but mandatory as we want to ensure that participants can enjoy all the services provided by the event organisers, such as refreshments at the finish, free transport of a change of clothes to the finish, and the mechanics service from the start to the finish.

COLLECT YOUR CUSTOMISED BIB

At the start you can collect your bib customised with your name and the name of your chosen climb and autographed by Alberto Contador. Your bib is your PASS for accessing the services provided by the event organisers. You will also be given the Finisher or SuperFinisher ticket which must be stamped to confirm where you started and the checkpoints you passed along the route.

KITBAG

The weather can be quite chilly at the finish lines on the Gavia and Mortirolo Passes. We advise all participants to bring some winter clothing (jacket, tights, gloves, shoecovers, etc.). You will have the opportunity to put these items, along with your change of clothes, in a kitbag. A sticker with your bib number should be placed on the kitbag (so we know it’s yours!) and then the kitbag should be handed in when you collect your bib. The kitbag must be given to the organisers before the start and they will take it to the top of the Gavia Pass or the Mortirolo Pass where it will be returned to you at the finish.

RESPECT THE COUNTRYSIDE AND THE ENVIRONMENT

The organisers kindly request that you do not leave any litter along the route otherwise you will be disqualified from the race. Many “green” areas have been set up along the routes where you may throw away any rubbish.
